Local couple finds that housing search is nearly over

Yesterday we went back to see the affordable 2-bedroom apartment that had a washer and dryer but the yard is like 8x8 and shady. We had to "struggle" in the political sense with the landlady, who reminds me a bit too much of my former landlady (progressive Berkeley gardening type). She was like, maybe your parents could co-sign (remember, my credit is bad)? and meJulie was like, "I probably have more money in the bank than my parents!" I wonder if he might be a bit naive. Interesting that she didn't suggest that I have a cosigner. I guess mine would be him, and his parents would be our backup?

Today meJulie and I finally applied for this 1 bedroom apartment that has smelly new carpet and a giant yard. The first time I saw that yard I almost cried. I have gone to see the place twice. Maybe 3 times. There was much drama with talking to the realty company and the landlady today...a showing was scheduled for tonight, so we showed up. (we wanted to inspect the new garage door) There was noone there to show the apartment! What does this mean? Did we get it?

I also got a really cryptic email from the landlady from the 2-bedroom. I wrote back, and when I checked mail again at 11:30 it had all become clear- she was telling us to get in touch with her realtor guy about our lease!!!!

I am a fair bit heartbroken about the yard at the smaller place, but it will be a great relief to have a washer and dryer. I need it for my bidness.

I can't wait to buy stuff. Maybe a water filter, and one of those water heaters for tea, and a wok (or should I just wait till the students move out for that?)...and I'll have my current housemate help us with shelves and stuff... So exciting! I'll bring kitty to the vet if I have enough money left over... and I can't wait to dig the ivy out of the little shade garden and plant a few seeds. Maybe we can have chickens at the community garden across the street.
